When planning their Editorial Engagement Session, Mayzie and kyle wanted the best of both worlds: the cozy, intimate feel of an at-home session and the stunning, expansive views of Discovery Park in Seattle. By blending these two vibes, we created something that felt both deeply personal and effortlessly stylish—proof that you don’t have to choose between comfort and epic scenery.
Seattle’s signature moody weather made an unexpected guest appearance, with soft rain and dramatic gray skies setting the scene. Instead of fighting the drizzle, we embraced it, and the reward was absolutely worth it—dreamy, diffused light with little bursts of golden sun breaking through. If you’re planning your own engagement session, take this as a reminder that a little rain can actually be magic.
Mayzie and Kyle’s love story started as a friendship in college, the kind that slowly, inevitably turned into something more. Since then, they’ve been inseparable—each other’s best friend, biggest supporter, and safe place. That feeling of “home” was something they wanted captured in their photos, and it couldn’t have been more fitting.
With their wedding planned in sunny Monterey, California, this Seattle engagement session felt like the perfect contrast—moody, romantic, and grounded in the city they currently call home.
Discovery Park, tucked away in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood, is one of my favorite places for engagement sessions—especially on a misty morning. With a little rain in the forecast, we had the beach almost entirely to ourselves, making for an intimate and relaxed shoot. Early mornings here are always a hidden gem, offering soft light, peaceful vibes, and the kind of quiet that lets couples truly sink into the moment together.
One of the reasons I love photographing at Discovery Park is the variety of backdrops. From rugged driftwood-lined shores to sweeping grassy fields and dense forest paths, it has a little bit of everything. For Mayzie and Kyle, it was the perfect mix—cozy and connected, yet still expansive and cinematic.
Some of Mayzie and Kyle’s favorite moments together are the quiet ones—slow mornings with coffee and a book, or cozy nights in, just the two of them. To bring that feeling into their editorial engagement session, we decided on an intimate outdoor picnic, creating a scene that felt both stylish and deeply personal.
They brought along their favorite mugs and a soft blanket that not only kept them warm but also coordinated beautifully with their outfits, tying everything together in a way that felt intentional yet effortless. It was the perfect way to blend their love for simple, cozy moments with the stunning outdoor scenery of Discovery Park.
Every couple has a story, and my goal is always to make sure that story shines through in a way that feels true to them while staying effortlessly chic. I take the time to get to know my couples—the little things they love, the moments that feel most like them—so their photos aren’t just beautiful, but personal. With Mayzie and Kyle, that meant blending cozy, intimate details with sweeping outdoor scenery, capturing both their connection and the artistic, emotional feel that defines my work. The result? A Seattle editorial engagement session that feels like them—warm, romantic, and completely timeless.
